Free and paid marriage counseling resources
When a marriage fails, it’s natural to question what led you down this path. What changed that caused your marriage to decline.
You’re also hit with the realization you need to turn things around before it’s too late. You might have already explored options like marriage counseling or attending a seminar.
If you’ve explored these options, you’ll have a good idea of the expense involved. Marriage counseling is damn expensive, costing hundreds of dollars per session.
Not only is marriage counseling expensive, the financial burden can also increase the tension in your home. If money issues are already causing marital problems, it makes sense not to rock the boat.
However, there are both free and paid alternatives. Let’s take a look at some of these options which include my free marriage counseling resources:
Online Marriage Counseling
One alternative is online marriage counseling. This can be helpful for couples who live too far away from a regular couples therapist. Online marriage counseling is also significantly cheaper than visiting a therapist in person.
If you feel anxious about visiting a therapist’s office or the cost is outside your budget, online therapy is a possible solution. The sessions also take place in familiar surroundings which can help settle your nerves.
Although the sessions will take place in your own home, you will still need to convince your spouse to take part. Sometimes, this is far easier said than done. For instance, men are especially reluctant to discuss their feelings with strangers.
It’s also important to realize some online counselors are not trained professionals. Before choosing to work with an online counselor, make sure you check their credentials. Another issue you might face is, the therapy methods vary from one counselor to the next. It might take you some time to find someone you can talk to without hesitation.
Marriage Saving Systems
There are many marriage saving systems out there, two of the most popular ones are:
Brad and Lee are both well respected relationship experts. If you visit their social profiles, you’ll find thousands of people thanking them for saving their marriage.
But what’s the truth behind these systems and do they work? The truth is, these systems are a good fit for couples who want to work through their issues on their own.
Many people, myself included value privacy. So instead of announcing to the world your marriage is a failure, it makes sense to try a relatively cheap solution in the comfort of your own home.
You can also set your own schedule and work through the course at your own pace. As both programs include workbooks, audio and video files, you can catch up whenever you have free time.
Still, I’m not an expert on either of these marriage saving systems. However, from a quick check on their respective websites, I found the following info:
Mend the marriage by Brad Browning
Brad talks about the following points:
- The 3 marriage murdering mistakes which left unchecked can ruin a marriage
- How to save your marriage and prevent divorce even if you’re the only one trying
- How to rewind the clock and build a powerful bond with your spouse
You can learn more at Brad’s website:
Save the marriage by Lee H. Baucom
Lee mentions the following points on his website:
- The top 5 mistakes couples make when their marriage is in trouble
- How marriage counseling is a danger to the health of your marriage
- How to save your marriage even if your spouse has asked for a divorce
You can learn more at Lee’s website:
When compared with marriage counseling, both marriage saving systems are cheap. Both websites also provide plenty of information. You’ll know exactly what the system involves before signing up.
However, as with any purchase, don’t get suckered in by the bold claims and glitzy headlines. Visit both websites, read the info and watch the videos. Make sure you review all the facts before signing up.

Regular readers will know I went through my own marriage hell. If you’re new around here, you can read about my journey to saving my marriage here.
When my marriage was falling apart, counseling wasn’t an option for a few reasons. For one, I didn’t believe I could convince my husband. Then you have the cost, which was eye watering and outside our budget. The final reason was privacy, I honestly didn’t want the world to know my marriage was a failure.
Now some of these are personal and selfish reasons, and won’t apply to you. Although my reasons were selfish, the result isn’t. I saved my marriage and I’ve put together some fantastic free marriage counseling resources to help you do the same.

In closing, I’m not a huge fan of marriage counseling for a few reasons. First, it’s extremely expensive and outside most couple’s budgets. Not to mention the extra stress it can place on an already strained relationship.
Online marriage counseling though has its benefits. If you can find the right counselor, it might be a good solution. But finding that diamond in the rough might take some time.
A viable alternative to online marriage counseling are the marriage saving systems. Again, I have no personal experience with either of the featured courses, so I suggest you take your time before deciding.
Also, if you haven’t already done so, sign up for the free resources. I’ve poured my heart and soul into writing both the free marriage counseling book and the email course. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
